Third Trimester Activities

A Science Focus.

At the beginning of the third trimester we had a day dedicated to science led by local science expert Santos Mazagatos.

Students from Primary 4 to 6 participated in workshops such as making an electromagnet, creating ant houses and a water bottle pressure experiment. 

Thanks to Santos we had a great day!

Actividades del Tercer Trimestre

Un enfoque sobre la ciencia

Al comienzo del tercer trimestre, tuvimos un dia dedicado a la ciencia, llevado por un experto local, Santos Mazagatos.

Estudiantes de cuarto a sexto de primaria pariciparon en talleres como hacer un iman electromagnético, crear una casa de hormigas y un experiment de presion en una botella de agua.

Gracias a Santas tuvimos un día increíble.

THE SPANISH VISIT!!!!!!

Without doubt our biggest Erasmus event this year was the Spanish visit. From the 9th to the 13th of May, we welcomed 15 teachers from  the participating Erasmus schools to El Peñascal.

The purpose of this visit was to demonstrate how the project functions in our school, to share good practice, to  provide teacher training with a focus on visual and spatial intelligence and to give our visitors a taste of Segovia and Spanish culture. More importantly it gave our students the opportunity to interact with teachers from different countries and cultures and use their English in a meaningful context.

Sin duda el evento más grande de este año fue la visita española. Desde el 9 hasta el 13 de mayo, acogimos 15 profesores de los colegios Erasmus participantes en el Peñascal.

El objetivo de la visita fue demostrar como el proyecto funciona en nuestro insituto , compartir buenas practicas, proporcionar entrenamiento docente con un enfoque en inteligencias visuales y espaciales y dar les a nuestros visitantes un sabor a Segovia y la cultura española. Y aun más importante, dio a nuestros estudiantes la oportunidad de interaccionar con profesores de otros países y culturas y usar su ingles en un contexto significante.

Second Trimester Activities

Vivaldi's Winter

As part of exploring musical intelligence, we use Vivaldi's Winter as a focus across the curricular. Different intelligences were combined to create a variety of different work in different subjects. We use Vivaldi's Winter to inspire us in our art work. We travelled to both poles to investigate the northern lights in the Arctic and habitats in Antartica. 

Como parte de explorar inteligencia musical, usamos el Invierno de Vivaldi como un foco sobre el currículo. Diferentes inteligencias fueron combinadas para crear una variedad de trabajos en diferentes materias. Usamos el Invierno de Vivaldi para inspirarnos en nuestros trabajos de arte. Viajamos a los dos polos para investigar las Auroras Boreales en el Ártico y los habitats en el Antártico.

A Science Focus

At the beginning of this year, visiting a science museum was still difficult due to covid restrictions. So, for this reason, we took our children on a virtual tour. Year 4 visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington using their online virtual tour. Our students had a fantastic time, it was possible to enter the rocket, which was very exciting!!! 

Al principio de este año, visitar un museo de ciencia todavía era difícil a causa de las restricciones covid. Por esta razón, llevamos a los niños en una visitad virtual. Cuarto visitó el Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum en Washington usando su visita virtual online. Nuestros alumnos se lo pasaron muy bien, y fue posible entrar en el coete, que fue muy emocionante.

A trip to Romania

The second transitional meeting was in Oredea Romania.  Fern, Nanja and Ricardo visited the partner school "National College Yosif Vulenn Oradea. Here the teachers were able to observe classes, learn about the Romanian Education system and attend workshops about Verbal Intelligence at the University of Oradea. It was a really interesting trip and a great opportunity to discover new ideas and to learn about Romanian culture.

El segundo encuentro transicional fue en Oredea, Rumania. Fern, Nanja y Ricardo visitaron el colegio correspondiente "National College Yosif Vulenn Oradea. Aquí los profesores tuvieron la oportunidad de observar las clases, aprender sobre el sistema educativo rumano y atender talleres sobre Inteligencia verbal en la Universidad de Oradea. Fue un viaje muy interesante y una gran oportunidad para descubrir nuevas ideas y aprender de la cultura rumana. 

Mathematical Intelligence

 Our work on the project in November and December focused on mathematical intelligence with developing skills in making 3D shapes and figures. Watch the video to see the activities we did from years three to six.

Nuestro trabajo en el proyecto en Noviembre y Diciembre se centró en la inteligencia matemática y el desarrollo de la habilidad de formar figuras y cuerpos geométricos en tres dimensiones. Mira el vídeo para ver las actividades que hemos hecho en los cursos de tercero a sexto.

Christmas cards from Turkey

 Just before Christmas we had very special delivery. Fifty beautiful handmade Christmas cards, arrived from Turkey. Thank you to the children in our partner school there for their fantastic work.

Justo antes de navidad, tuvimos una entrega muy especial. Cincuenta cartas navideñas hechas por los niños del colegio en Kacaeli, Turquía, llegaron a nuestro colegio. Muchas gracias a los niños de ahi y sus profesores.

 In year 4 we have made Christmas cards to send to  our friends inTurkey. We approached the project using multiple intelligences.  Watch the video to see our beautiful results.

En cuarto curso hemos hecho tarjetas navideñas para mandar a nuestros amigos de Turquía. Para hacer las tarjetas hemos trabajado las inteligencias múltiples. En el vídeo se puede ver lo que hemos trabajado. 

A Trip To Turkey

 At last it was possible for the the first mobility to take place. Three teachers, Fern, Ana and Veronica, set off to Turkey in the first week of October. They visited the partner school in Kocaeli. 

 Por fin fue posible hacer la primera movilidad del proyecto. Tres profesoras, Fern, Ana y Veronica, fueron a Turquía en la primera semana de octubre. Visitaron el colegio copartícipe en Kocaeli.

Nature Smart

 Through out last year we worked on various activities aimed at developing nature intelligence. These activities included growing plants from seeds and cuttings, visiting the school garden, observing first-hand the life cycle of the butterfly, doing experiments exploring cells and investigating about the different animal groups and their habitats. To continue with nature intelligence, Year 3 went on a nature walk, collecting leaves and observing the start of autumn. 

 A lo largo del año pasado trabajamos varias actividades con el fin de desarrollar la inteligencia de la naturaleza. Estas actividades incluyeron cultivando plantas de semillas y podas, visitando el jardín del colegio, observando de primera mano el ciclo de la vida de una mariposa, haciendo experimentos explorando células y investigando sobre los diferentes grupos animales y sus habitats. Para continuar con inteligencia de la naturaleza, Tercero se fue de paseo natural, cogiendo hojas y observando el empezar del otoño.
